In Europe, the AOC is issued under common EASA rules by the competent national authority: the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt in Germany, the Federal Office of Civil Aviation in Switzerland and Austro Control in Austria.
The certificate confirms that the operator meets the organisational, technical and personnel requirements for commercial flight operations. These include a maintenance organisation, crew training and an operations manual.
The operators whose empty legs and charters PrivJet arranges in Europe are approved for commercial passenger transport. Private flights without an AOC may not be sold to third parties for payment.
