How we calculate this

We count every bookable empty leg with a future departure. A flight listed by several sources counts once, and so does a standing offer that lists the same route and aircraft type on 7 or more days. Figures are recalculated at most every 15 minutes.

The median price is the middle listed price, not the lowest one. A class appears from 30 prices, a route from 3 flights. Prices are converted at the current rate and rounded to the nearest 100.

The index shows our inventory, not the whole market. New sources raise the number of flights without the market having grown, so please do not compare flight counts over longer periods. The final price of a flight is set when the operator confirms it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Empty Leg Index?

A continuously updated overview of the empty legs in our inventory: how many there are, regions, the most common routes and airports, and median prices by aircraft class.

What is an empty leg?

A private jet that would fly without passengers anyway, for example on the way back after a charter. These flights are often offered for less, but the operator sets the route and time.

Why are prices shown before the service fee?

The index shows what providers ask. If you book through PrivJet, the service fee is added on top and is part of the total shown on each flight.

Can I use these figures?

Yes, with a source, a link and the date. The figures change constantly, so without a date they go out of date quickly. For fixed values, use the monthly reports.
