With fractional ownership, customers buy a share of an aircraft — say one sixteenth — and get a fixed number of flight hours per year. The provider supplies crew, maintenance and an equivalent replacement aircraft when needed.
The best-known providers are NetJets and Flexjet. Their fleets are among the most active in the world because every aircraft shuttles between many owners. The registry usually lists the provider’s company as owner.

How accurate is the classification?
We classify owners automatically from the name in the aircraft registry — for example “Trustee” for trusts or “LLC” for companies. Outdated registry entries, leasing or unusual names can lead to wrong assignments in individual cases.
